Celebration of Halloween in Ukraine attracts a lot of hype and discussion in recent years. You may think that there is no such thing as Halloween celebration in Ukraine at all. Well, partly this is true as you won’t find any day called that in the calendar, however, there are certain traditions connected with this date.
At the same time more and more Ukrainians (especially the young ones) celebrate Halloween. So, the big question is “what can you expect from Halloween in Ukraine?”
If you live in a big city you can attend a Halloween party in a club or restaurant. There is also a tradition to organize small Halloween themed home-parties for friends and family. Nearly all clubs in Ukraine have a Halloween Parties on October 31st. Many of these parties are costume parties, so choose a costume which is going to be scary and recognizable, then prepare yourself for a lot of frightening and spooky fun.
While Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro are still rather conservative regarding Halloween celebration and people tend to arrive to the costume parties by cabs or cars without too much flashing their costumes, it’s Lviv where all the Halloween madness spills to the streets.
